A New York Interior

One night, a had a dream that took place, somehow, between New York and Paris, in a city that borrowed traits from each other. In it, I went into a restaurant-like space, that had a serene atmosphere that made my day lovelier, even after waking. I couldn't forget it.

One day, shortly after, I was scrolling about on the 'net, and saw a picture of an interior from New York - that looked like it could have been from Paris. Or so it seemed to me. It was a restaurant, and an interior design place, from a firm that did architecture, and it looked as dreamy as the thing I'd dreamt. So, on a trip to New York City, I just had to go!

Of course it was different than my dream in real life, but absolutely lovely nonetheless. Lovely enough to paint.

I did it, interested in how it might turn out, what might be relayed. The resulting painting - I don't know. It doesn't have all the suffused delicacy and serenity I was hoping for. But it does have a kind of frenetic energy to it - very New York. Rather lively! I hope Roman and Williams (the name of the firm) don't mind my little tribute.
